The task of any Disc Jockey should be to create days of future past, to leave memories that will be looked back upon one day with fond nostalgia that made wild beyond any imagination as you grooved to the mastery of mixing and wizardry of song selection. DJ Hoodini aims to stand that particular test when it comes to his music.

Barbadian born and raised in St. Michael, hailing from the picturesque suburban town of Wildey, a then young Wyson Knight possessed the burning desire to become involved in the entertainment industry and was fully confident that one day he would achieve his dreams. In hopes of pursuing his career choice, Wyson embarked on what would be a life-long journey through many trials and tribulations en route to achieving his goals, owning no significant music-related equipment or resource, but merely a passion for the artform.

During those early years, Wyson would be seen pedaling his mixes which he recorded on cassette tape format with extension use of two semi integrated radio cassette players, one of which he would garner from his aunt without her prior permission. He managed to muscle his way onto the smaller music market within his community and high school and this provided him with sufficient income of which he steadily accumulated in savings to purchase newer technologies.

After this era, Wyson elevated his status by acquiring two turntables and a holster of records of which he was now using to greater efficiency in producing his amazing mix tapes. Notoriety came from a further audience and he was soon being sought after to provide the music for birthday parties and house fetes across the island. By this time his popularity was increasing and this also meant an increase in commitment to the game, hence, Wyson along with three other key players, formed the DJ Group, FORT KNOX CREW.

With the latest craze in the advent of FORT KNOX CREW, requests to have the group perform were now more intense and immense island-wide. In addition to the house parties and minor events the group was now faced with honouring requests to perform at bigger shows and nightclubs. The popularity of the group skyrocketed and FORT KNOX CREW was enjoying promotion throughout the media and on the tongues of all party goers in Barbados.

This, however, was not the limits of Wyson’s intentions for his professionalism. Realizing a barrier at the present level which he now stood, he quickly decided to revamp and revise his battle plan towards achieving even more in the music and entertainment industry. Under this career move, Wyson dissolved FORT KNOX CREW and went back to the blueprints, focusing on the right mix for greater success.

The rest is history – an empire was born! Wyson would later emerge and form the company MOTION CONTROL. This was a venture committed to undertake all professional music tasks for events of specific and delicate nature. MOTION CONTROL captured the attention of the entire hotel industry and tourism sector within Barbados and gained an extreme reputation as the premier source for exclusive Music and DJ services.

Having conquered corporate Barbados, Wyson then sought after his local markets which he seemed to forsake some years before in order to restructure his goals. To this extent, he incorporated two subsidiaries of MOTION CONTROL to handle respective business for his ventures. KRYPTONITE ENTERTAINMENT MANAGEMENT AGENCY was now formed to handle and guide young and upcoming entertainers and XLR8 MUSIC was introduced as the recording element, geared at handling production, mastering, editing and song mixing.

The stage was now set – Wyson now began fine tuning his accomplishments. He secured many formal contracts within the entertainment industry to help sustain his empire. Radio shows, nightclub stints, numerous engagements across the island are but a few on the long list of accolades to date. But still, this was not enough.

A humble Wyson at this stage had unselfishly concentrated all his efforts on the Motion Control Family (all the companies incorporated). It was now pressing for him to embark on a personal gratification towards his life-long desires. To this came the evolution of the music, the man and foremost, the MAGIC – enter DJ HOODINI the musical genie.

Seen as the most pro-retro inclusion to the highly trained and skillful list of DJs, HOODINI has done it all. The walls that once enclosed him have now collapsed, the forces which stood in feeble attempts to hold him back have disintegrated, and only the sky limits his obvious and unstoppable progression.

Prepare yourself for the ride of your life. Those who experience his precision mixing and masterful song selections often wonder in awe: “Can one mortal really do that?” and “how in the world did he find that song” can be seen as a gesture of amazement on the many faces listening.
